Introduction
Trio Mandeng's music is rooted in blues, jazz and Latin. The delicate melodic textures of the kora harp and balafon are intertwined with rough percussion rhythms in keeping with the West African tradition. The musicians, who come from Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso and Finland, are each internationally renowned masters of the genre. The lyrics of the songs resonate in several African languages, sometimes also with Finnish spices, and at the very least the musical language is understandable to all lovers of soulful acoustic live groove, regardless of cultural background.
Adama Kone - kora
Mohamed Bangoura - percussion, vocals
Maarika Autio - balafon, vocals
Technical information
The duration of the performances varies from about half an hour to one and a half, e.g. 2 x 45 minutes with an intermission.
In addition to concerts, we can also organize workshops in playing, dancing and singing.
The instruments are acoustic, so performing completely without sound amplification is in principle possible. However, this only works in very intimate spaces. At least a light sound reinforcement almost always improves the concert experience. As a rule, both the vocals and the instruments are amplified at concerts. We provide a stage map upon request.
